My favorite interior designer, gal pal (wine pal, walk pal, coffee pal, cheese plate pal, mani pal) and general get-it-done pal Amy Meier is in town this week.
As you may have inferred, that means projects. She’s transformed a guest bedroom in what seems like the blink of an eye. Once it’s all done, I have a sneaking suspicion I may forfeit my own bed to sleep there.
While you’ll have to wait to see the pictures on her portfolio, I can disclose my favorite detail: black windows. Amy knows I can’t stomach frou-frou or girly, and nothing sharpens up a room like crisp black trim. You might even say it’s eyeliner for your interiors.

Despite my love of design, I’ve never really considered black trim. Not sure why, since it’s gorgeous and masculine in a modern sort of way. I dig!
Love this!!!!!! Can’t wait to see the pictures!
Thumbs up!
Still stalking the blog every day (would that be blauking??) to see the final result….
Good news Stephanie! You can see our yellow guest bedroom with black window frames on Amy Meier’s portfolio: http://amymeierdesign.com/decorator-portfolio.html
If I blogged the design work she’s done at our house, magazines wouldn’t publish the projects. And her work is too god *not* to be in magazines.
Thanks so much! It looks fantastic! I love the design posts featuring your house (it’s all just so great)….any chance you’d share your entry and/or stairwell in a future blog? I’m rethinking mine and could use some inspiration. Also, can you share where you source your home decor, especially for those of us who live on the North Shore?
Stephanie, it sounds like we’re considering similar projects. Right now our door opens directly into a large room, and I’d like to build out an entryway and portico with proper coat storage. The stairwell? Completely blank. Haven’t even gotten to it yet. Truthfully, though, there are projects in queue ahead of those two.
Now, the home decor source roundup, that I can do! Great idea, thank you for sharing. Keep an eye out for it.
