Bright Scarves

February 11, 2010 Fashion

In February, as the snow piles up and the skies remain mostly gray, I begin to crave bright scarves.  We all need a dose of color, and it feels good to contemplate a transitional purchase that will ride right on into the summer. Wouldn’t these brighten up your neutrals? P.S. Scroll down for wallet-friendly etsy [...]

Tractor Stools: What's the Harm in Dreaming?

February 10, 2010 Feathering the Nest

Our kitchen counters are awash in black granite, and there’s nothing wrong with that, except that I’m sick to death of granite, granite, everywhere.  I dream of thick white marble counters with rounded beveled edges, maybe interspersed with a butcher block or two.  The kind of unpolished marble that roughens up with use, the kind [...]

Weekend in Miami Round-Up: Madeleines, Baked Eggs, Gorgeous Kitchen, Sake Glasses, Costume Jewelry, Kids Toys

February 9, 2010 Travel

We spent the weekend in Boca Raton and Miami, eating delicious food and catching up with friends. While you won’t ever see me sporting the silky tap pants and bra tops currently hyped for Spring/Summer 2010, I do love this idea of pairing lingerie shaping with a mens’ shirt fabric. It’s much more interesting than running around [...]

Sunday Dinner: Roasted Lamb Chops with Figs, Curried Quinoa and Kale Citrus Salad

February 3, 2010 Food

If you’re looking for a weekend dinner menu, poach mine from last Sunday.  Brighten up a wintery lamb chops with curried quinoa and a kale salad loaded with blood oranges and Meyer lemons.  Your palate will thank you. Salad tips:  the citrus dressing really does wilt the raw, shredded kale if you let it marinate [...]

Under $10: Faux Fur Slippers

February 2, 2010 Fashion

Slippers skeeve me out after awhile, so I’m always on the look out for cheap pairs I won’t mind replacing.   I’m wearing these rubber-soled, fleece-lined slippers in white (if only the fawn brown were available in my size).  Keep them by the door where you take off your boots.  Toasty!
